History of the Loveland Dance Academy
July 1998 to Today

The Loveland Dance Academy was created on July 1st, 1998 and is located at 126 W. 4th St, Loveland, Colorado. The Studio provides instruction in ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theater, vocal techniques, modern, combination, lyrical and competitive dance. Our mission is to provide a place where dancers can learn and dance in a positive and encouraging environment. We take into account the dancer as a whole person, while teaching accurate technique and demanding personal best.

The Loveland Dance Academy is especially proud of its diverse staff of instructors. Many of our instructors have at one time or currently run their own companies, intensive programs and performing groups. Our teachers have anywhere from 5 years to 45 years of experience and are truly the most qualified in the Northern Colorado area.

Jenni Leinweber has been the School's Director and Co-owner since it began in 1998. During this time the school has had great success with its Performance Dance Team which competes and performs on a Regional and National Level. They have received many Top Overall Awards for Small Groups, Solos and Duo/Trios and the "Studio Spirit" award for their team spirit and professional attitude during competition. Along with competing, the team performs for local and regional organizations such as local elementary schools and retirement/nursing homes.

Along with the Performance Dance Team and classes that showcase up and coming dance styles and techniques, the Loveland Dance Academy is the home of the Loveland Youth Ballet. Our ballet program is based on a new curriculum based on the Russian style with consideration to building a strong and healthy dance body. Each season classical repertoire and contemporary works are incorporated into classes. During our 2002-03 season, the Loveland Youth Ballet gave the premiere of "The Littlest Fairy"; an original ballet written and choreographed by Jenni Leinweber with original compositiotn by Brandon Dill. The group has also performed, "Excerpts from Coppelia", and abridged versions of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Members of the Loveland Youth Ballet have also participated with community dancer productions such as Nutcracker in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and Peter and the Wolf in 2008. In the summer of 2009, LYB will present its first full length ballet.
